‘Affordable’ summer camp programme expands
Additional summer day camp spots have been made available, with a wider variety and for a longer period of time as part of improvements to the Government’s offerings.
Owen Darrell, the culture and sport minister, provided an update on progress made since the launch of its Camp Connect programme last year.
Capacity was increased by 540 placements bringing the total to more than 4,000 for children over the summer break.
Camps will now be available between June 3 to September 5, though availability will vary between camp providers.
Mr Darrell told the House of Assembly: “A broader selection of camp types is now available, ensuring diverse and dynamic experiences.
“We have added eleven new camps to the site, offering 40 camp experiences. Users can navigate by category of interest or by the zone of the island they live in.
“We are extremely grateful to all the camp operators who are a part of the programme this year.”
The registration link for Camp Connect goes live on Monday at 9.30am. All camps listed will be at a rate of $60 per week per child.
Payments are made once registration has been approved.
Mr Darrell added: “Camp Connect is designed to make summer planning convenient and hassle-free, ensuring families have easy access to safe, enriching and affordable summer programmes.”
