The Department of Education has released a new online platform intended to streamline substitute teacher recruitment and replace pen-and-paper applications.

A government spokeswoman said the Substitute Application Platform, launched on Friday, would improve recruitment, protect applicant data and ensure payroll accuracy for the upcoming school year.

She added: “All current and aspiring substitute teachers interested in opportunities with Bermuda public schools will be required to create a secure online profile, upload required credentials digitally and track their electronic onboarding steps in real time.

“To prevent technical processing delays, the department encourages all substitute educators and prospective applicants to proactively prepare their digital files, including valid BEC licensing, academic qualifications, banking details and identification, so they are ready to apply immediately upon the platform's launch.”
