Three women received $10,000 in scholarship funds to chase their dreams of becoming nurses.

Channa McGowan, Unzae Swan and Naziah Robinson were all named recipients of the Iris Almeria Davis Scholarship, which is offered by the Bermuda Nurses Association to aspiring and practising medical assistants.

The bursary was named after the late Iris Almeria Davis, an iconic Bermudian nurse renowned for her compassion, professionalism and high personal standards.

Ms Swan and Ms Robinson each received $3,500 as student nurses.

Ms Swan hopes to build her career of compassion by studying at the University of Missouri in St Louis.

Meanwhile, Ms Robinson will attend Birmingham City University in England to grow the necessary knowledge and skills to serve as a nurse.

Ms McGowan, a registered nurse, was granted $3,000 to support her professional development.

She is studying diabetes online with the University of South Wales.
