Every student from Victor Scott Primary School, Dellwood Middle School and West Pembroke Primary School will receive a new backpack, water bottle and supplies for the upcoming school year thanks to Liberty Mutual Bermuda.

Company staff arranged 144 packages, which also comprise a notebook, a drawstring bag and a stocked pencil case. They will be collected on September 1.

The inaugural drive was spearheaded by Deborah Albuoy, a Liberty Mutual account administrator.

She explained: “This was always something that I wanted to do to show that our company cares about the community and young people.

“I wanted to give to those three specific schools because I was familiar with them.”

Ceri Riihiluoma, a Liberty Mutual senior marketing manager, said that the giveaway, which she hoped to make an annual event, was one of the many forms in which the company gives back to the community.

She added: “We were the presenting sponsor for Relay For Life this year and a group of us volunteer at Christ Church Warwick every month.

“We hope to give to even more public school students through this initiative next year.”

Liberty Mutual said the giveaway was a “hands-on reflection of the company’s core values — putting people first and making things better”.

It added: “More than school supplies, the initiative gives students the confidence to focus on what matters most: learning.”
