A young Bermudian whose academic record was described as “outstanding”, is the recipient of $30,000 in scholarship funding.

The Garden Club of Bermuda said Aaron Lugo’s selection was also based on his participation in extracurricular activities and dedication to community service.

The Berkeley Institute graduate will pursue an undergraduate degree in environmental studies at Howard University in the United States.

“We are delighted to support Aaron on his academic journey and are confident that, in due course, he will make a significant contribution to Bermuda,” the organisation said.

The charity has been in existence for over 100 years and its mission is to stimulate interest in horticulture, floral design and related subjects.

It also supports the conservation of natural resources.
