Students have benefited to the tune of more than $300,000 to support their education thanks to payouts from the Bermuda College Foundation.

The $308,000 in scholarships and financial assistance for 2026-27 was announced yesterday, along with the 11 students awarded.

Since its inception in 2019 through to March 31 this year, the foundation has given an additional $1.19 million in support for college students.

Donors and recipients include the Bermuda Chess Association, providing $5,000 a year for two years to Kyle Richardson, and Conduit Re’s motor vehicle technology scholarship of $1,250 per student to Jaden Obas-Simons, Seth Samuels and Zaeden Stewart.

The Dr James King culinary arts scholarship of $5,000 went to Terrai Trott; Global Atlantic Re’s scholarship provided $6,750 to Marcus Rodriguez; the Martello Re scholarship of $6,750 went to Tolulope Akinmola; and nursing scholarships of $10,000 per student to assist with tuition, books and fees were secured by Chemahj Rayner and Cleophea Darrell.

The Price Forbes book award of $500 per student for books was handed to Andryah Fishington, Nyla Goodchild, Talitha Pearman, Fabiana Pitcher and Jaylen Woodley-Herbert.

Finally, the Roche Science merit scholarship will provide $7,500 tuition support for Talitha Pearson and the W. Roy Wright scholarship will cover $5,000 in tuition support for Nathan Agostinho.

Kerry Judd, the foundation’s executive director, said: “These awards represent much more than financial support, they are an investment in the ambitions, resilience and potential of Bermuda College students.

“We are deeply grateful to every donor whose generosity makes this support possible and helps remove barriers for students pursuing their academic and career goals.”

David Sam, the Bermuda College president, added: “Bermuda College is proud to partner with the foundation in supporting students who are working hard to build their futures.

“Scholarships and financial assistance play a vital role in helping students remain focused on their studies, complete their programmes and contribute meaningfully to Bermuda’s workforce and community.”

Applications for student financial assistance remain open until October 21 and students who require additional financial support were encouraged to visit www.college.bm or e-mail financialsupportservices@college.bm for more information.

The 2026-27 student financial assistance has been supported by contributions from The Simons Foundation International, Global Atlantic, Essent Reinsurance Limited, W. Roy Wright, The Altrusa Club of Bermuda, and an anonymous donor.
