Curator, writer and educator Lisa Howie has launched a virtual international art fair bringing together 50 contemporary artists from the mid-Atlantic region.

The Atlantic World Art Fair, featured on the online platform www.artsy.net, brings together nine art galleries and curatorial agencies, and aims to build awareness of artists in the region as well as “stimulating capital and galvanising the collective efforts of the exhibitors”.

Ms Howie, who founded the online Black Pony Gallery which is producing the fair, said: “The Atlantic Art World Art Fair comes out of a shared vision – the collective work of art professionals dedicated to the cultural capital of mid-Atlantic islands and the wider Atlantic World region.

“Together, on the Artsy platform, we collectivise the artistic talents that propel us forward – to elevate the visual arts within our community and to the wider world. This online art fair experience flags the Atlantic World as an exciting new art market to discover.”

The first art fair comprises eight female exhibitors including Ms Howie and originate from Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, St Maarten, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands, and their diasporas.

Butterfield Group is a sponsor for the event.
