Festival performers to coach local students

Actors from the London stage will give a free performance of Shakespeare’s Macbeth to students during the Bermuda Festival of Performing Arts

Actors from the London stage will coach Bermudian performers and will hold a workshop with prisoners at the Westgate Correctional Facility.

These endeavours are part of Butterfield Bank and the Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts’ new four-day residency programme, the Butterfield Residency for Arts Engagement.

Butterfield will be partnering with the Bermuda Festival for three seasons to bring this programme into fruition.

A Bermuda Festival statement read: “This programme will feature a diverse range of acts which will alternate between theatre, music and dance companies.

“In collaboration with Butterfield, the Bermuda Festival will strive to bring acts to Bermuda that are engaging for people of all ages and our underserved communities.”

As well as their coaching and prisoner outreach programmes, the performers involved in this year’s residency will be leading workshops at high schools throughout Bermuda and will give a free performance of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth to students.
