A two-day event bringing together the work of local and international mural artists is to make its debut on the island.

Bermuda Walls is hosting the “celebration of art, culture and community” in Hamilton on April 13 and 14.

The festival will feature the collaborative efforts of six local artists working with four esteemed international street artists.

Together, they will create new murals across the Butterfield & Vallis building on Woodlands Road and the streets of Hamilton.

A map of the new murals will be shared on the @BermudaWalls Instagram page ahead of the event.

The concept of the festival came about through a personal connection of Spencer Butterfield, chief executive of Butterfield & Vallis and cofounder of Bermuda Walls.

He explained: “The idea of Bermuda Walls has been kicking around for a long time as a family friend is Glayson Leroy, owner of Wynwood Mural Fest — a wonderful celebration of street art and graffiti in Miami.

“For years we’ve dreamt about bringing that energy and creativity to Bermuda. This year, at last, with the help of Nhuri Bashir, all the pieces finally fell into place.

“At Butterfield & Vallis, we’re committed to supporting the arts in Bermuda and we believe this is an amazing opportunity for the community to engage with and enjoy art in a new way.”

Nhuri Bashir, a cofounder of Burnt House Productions and Bermuda Walls, said: “This isn’t just a celebration of art but also a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit.

“We invite everyone to join us for a weekend filled with creativity, inspiration and unforgettable memories.”

Glayson Leroy, an artist and cofounder of Bermuda Walls, added: “I'm very excited about creating Bermuda Walls alongside my longtime friend, Spencer Butterfield.

“This year, we’re going to be showcasing some amazing Bermudian talents as well as bringing incredible recognised artists to the island.

“We can’t wait to see what magic they create and the inspiration that they all draw from this beautiful island.”

The event received sponsorship and support from Burnt House Productions, Galera Collective, Monster Energy, Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, Montana Cans, World Wide Walls, BDA Spirits, BermudAir, The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, The Loren at Pink Beach, All Rise, Bermuda Athletics Association, Isolated and Masterworks.

The event is free and parking is available at the BAA and Bull’s Head car parks.
