Lionfish conference and public lecture

Top lionfish researchers will speak on the Island next week as part of an event organised by the Ocean Support Foundation.James Morris Jr, of the National Ocean Service, and Lad Akins, of the Reef Environmental Education Foundation, will speak at a two-day conference for industry stakeholders starting tomorrow.Dr Morris will discuss the lionfish invasion in the Atlantic, while Mr Akins will tell how volunteers are helping curb the invasion at the workshop, designed to help Bermuda develop a long-range lionfish control programme.A public lecture summarising the results of the workshop will be held on Wednesday at 7pm.Tickets to the lecture are free, but limited and can be reserved by e-mail: lionfish@oceansupport.org. Tickets must be picked up at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum, and Zoo in advance. No tickets will be available at the door.
