A gardening club yesterday donated $10,000 to a nature restoration project in celebration of the club’s centennial anniversary.

The Garden Club of Bermuda gave the cheque to the Buy Back Bermuda (BBB) group to help them complete the restoration of Eve’s Pond in Hamilton Parish.

Jennifer Gray, the chairwoman of BBB, said: “We are incredibly grateful to be the recipient of a 100th anniversary gift from The Garden Club of Bermuda.

“This gift ensures we can complete the restoration of Eve’s Pond to a high standard.”

Ms Gray thanked the Garden Club and members of the public for their generosity for helping them preserve the natural heritage of Bermuda from the threat of land development.

Buy Back Bermuda was formed in 2004 by the Bermuda Audubon Society and the Bermuda National Trust.

The group took charge of Eve’s Pond in 2008 and began work to restore it in 2019.

It is anticipated to attract many waterfowl and become a safe habitat for other animals.
