BUEI to host eight-part Island SOS lecture series
A marine biologist and conservationist will take centre stage at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
Belen Garcia Ovide, founder and project manager at Ocean Missions, based in Iceland, will be speaking on March 5, during the first of this year’s eight-part Island Sustainable Ocean Strategies lecture series.
Ocean Missions teaches people about marine life and protection through excursions on Iceland’s largest sailboat, Opal.
Ms Ovide has a master’s degree in marine and coastal management and is currently researching micro-plastic ocean pollution at the University of Iceland.
Each presentation in the Island SOS series highlights a different island and topic.
Tickets for the talk, which will begin at 3pm, are $10 for BUEI members and $15 for non-members.
Visit Buei.bm or call 294 0204 to reserve a space.
