Volunteers from the Argus Group took to the coast to clear almost 500lb of trash from Bermuda’s shores.

The 30 volunteers worked alongside Keep Bermuda Beautiful during its annual Coastal Clean-Up at Admiralty House in Pembroke on Friday.

Clean-up crews collected 480lb of trash that was found washed up along the shore or left along the beach.

Kimberley Caines-Best, senior legal counsel and chair of the sustainability management committee at Argus, said that her company’s involvement aligned with its sustainability goals.

She explained: “Our involvement in the KBB Coastal Clean-Up is a tangible expression of our mission to become a powerful force for sustainable wellbeing, not only for our clients abut for our community and the environment we all cherish.

“By preserving Bermuda’s coastal areas, we are taking a crucial step towards fulfilling our sustainability pillars of environmental stewardship and community engagement.”

The event has been a staple of KBB for the last 20 years and frequently brings in volunteers from the public and private sectors to help.

Traci Burgess, the executive director for KBB, said: “We appreciate the Argus Group’s commitment to the environment and the betterment of Bermuda.

“The impact of these partnerships and efforts of the volunteers who participate in KBB’s clean-up activities is tremendous.

“The annual Island-Wide Coastal Clean-up is an opportunity to raise awareness on the importance of caring for our local marine environment, addressing Bermuda’s local litter problems and tackling the global ocean pollution crisis.”
