Palm Sunday Walk to explore parts of Warwick

The Bermuda National Trust’s 49th annual Palm Sunday Walk will take participants through several parts of Warwick this year.

According to a statement from the organisation, the 6.7km walk on March 24 starts and ends at Lindo’s Family Foods and will stop at places such as Sherwin Nature Reserve at Warwick Pond, Southlands Park, Astwood Cove, the WindReach property and parts of the Railway Trail.

The statement added: “A map will highlight points of natural and cultural heritage interest along the way, with some fascinating information about each spot.”

Myles Darrell, the BNT’s head of natural heritage, who planned the route, said the walk is “always a wonderful event that attracts an enthusiastic crowd from all parts of our community.

“We encourage everyone to come on out, rain or shine, to get some fresh air and exercise while seeing and learning a bit about parts of our island that you might never have visited before.”

The walk, which should take about two hours to complete, will begin at 1pm, with the latest start at 2pm. Participants can park in the Lindo’s or Warwick Academy parking lots.

Registration is $20 for BNT members, $25 for non-members and $10 for children aged 6 to 12.

• Participants can click here to register and collect their numbers at the BNT’s Waterville headquarters in Paget during business hours on March 22 or between 10am and noon on March 23. All registered participants will be eligible to win an iPad, with the draw taking place at Waterville at 10am on March 25
