Jaché Adams, the Minister of Public Works and the Environment, called on the community to observe Earth Day today along with the upcoming World Oceans Day on Monday.

Mr Adams said: “Earth Day reminds us that we all have a role to play. I encourage residents to participate in community clean-ups, support conservation initiatives and make choices that contribute to a greener Bermuda.”

He highlighted environmental successes including the recovery of the once-feared-extinct Bermuda land snail, while noting the Government’s work in advancing a Marine Spatial Plan in advance of World Oceans Day.

He added: “Our ocean is central to our way of life, and protecting it requires consistent action. I encourage residents to reduce single-use plastics, dispose of waste responsibly and support efforts to preserve marine habitats.

“These days are an opportunity not only to reflect, but to act. By working together and making informed choices, we can continue to protect Bermuda’s environment for future generations.”
