Correia ready for challenge
Philip Correia is gearing up for the FEI World Jumping Challenge finals in Quito, Ecuador, which starts next Monday.
Correia was invitated to the finals after his stallion Emerson came first in the category A division (1.20-1.30 metres) of Regional Zone 10, which included Barbados and the Dominican Republic.
He placed 24th overall out of a field of 278 competitors. Correia, who won a silver medal at the finals in Rabat, Morocco, in 2016, will face some of the world's best riders at the weeklong event.
The invited riders will be required to compete on borrowed horses from the host nation.
Although 278 competitors competed in the 1.20-1.30 height division, only the top two riders from each of the ten regional zones have been invited to take part in the finals.
