Simsfield Hardtimes equals own best time
Simsfield Hardtimes equalled the season's fastest time which the gelding already holds during the last round of harness racing at Vesey Street.
Aaron Sims's horse posted a 1:02/4 on the way to victory in the tenth heat of the racing programme competing in the free for all division with driver Dylan DeSilva at the helm.
It is the second time Simsfield Hardtimes has recorded the time having first achieved it last month.
Google Me, the multiple track record-holder, posted the second fastest time of 1:03/1 with driver Candyce Martins and Itsallaboutme, racing out of Graceland Stables, the third fastest time of 1:03/2 with driver Kayla Caldwell also competing in the free for all division.
Charles Whited's gelding Gold N Glory and War Machine, owned by G & S Mello, were the remaining ponies breaking the sub — 1:04 barrier.The pair posted identical times of 1:03/3 in the sixth and 15th heats with drivers Christian Truran and Caldwell also competing in the free for all division.
Rockeyed Optimist, owned by Kelsey Durham, was the only multiple heat winner having won both heats in the 1:05/2 — 1:06/2 division with driver Truran in the sulky.
Google Me, jointly owned by the father and son pair of Robert and Tyler Lopes, holds the overall track record, which stands at 1:01/1, as well as the mare's and four-year-old's records and is the only mare to win the coveted Champion of Champions.
Harness racing resumes today at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre, starting from 6pm.
