Supporters of TeamBDA are being invited to come together on a dedicated spectator boat, organised by the Island Tour Centre.

The 65-foot catamaran Filante is set to take to the Great Sound on June 12 and June 13 when TeamBDA, Bermuda’s entry in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, competes in the qualifying stage of the regatta.

Olivia Gracie of Island Tour Centre said: “We’re very happy to make these trips available for the public. This is Bermuda’s team so we want to make sure people can get out and support them.

“The fact that the races are from 5pm to 7pm means people can make an evening of it. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The qualifying stages of the regatta feature two groups of six teams. The top four teams from each group will proceed to the finals, which take place on June 20 and 21. TeamBDA will compete in Group B, along with teams from Austria, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain and the USA.

The teams will be racing in AC45s, the same foiling catamarans that the America’s Cup teams raced during the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series events.

MacKenzie Cooper, the TeamBDA skipper, said: “We’ve been working towards this moment for 18 months and can’t wait to get out on there and represent Bermuda.

“It’s great that Island Tour Centre is offering a dedicated spectator boat for our races, we’re the home team so we really hope people come out and support us.”

Tickets can be purchased online at www.islandtourcentre.com/americascup, where there is a special section for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup trips.
