Seniors will be celebrated at an event next week which marks International Day of Older Persons.

The Seniors Expo 2026, which will be held at the Bermuda College on Thursday, will bring together seniors, families, caregivers and community partners for a day of information, engagement and inspiration.

It will celebrate longevity, connection and healthy ageing, a government spokeswoman said.

The free event, hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, will run from 9am to 4pm.

It will run under the theme “The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives”, aligning with the message of the wider observance of the UN International Day of Older Persons.

The event will highlight resources, services and opportunities available to support Bermuda's growing senior population and to promote healthy, active and fulfilling lives.

Tinée Furbert, the youth, social development and seniors minister, encouraged seniors, caregivers, families and the community to attend.

She said: “Bermuda is experiencing a significant demographic shift as more people live longer.

“This presents tremendous opportunities for us to build a community where older adults can continue to thrive, contribute and remain actively engaged.

“We must work together to ensure that longevity is matched by good health, financial security, social connection and dignity.”

Ms Furbert said the event offers “a valuable opportunity” for seniors and their families to connect directly with government departments, community organisations and service providers.

She said attendees will receive practical information, discover available resources and learn about programmes designed to enhance wellbeing and quality of life.

“We look forward to welcoming all members of the community to this informative and empowering event,” Ms Furbert added.

Presentations and information booths will share a range of topics including healthy ageing and wellbeing, dementia care and support services, financial crime prevention and consumer protection.

Attendees will also learn about housing programmes and resources as well as community support programmes.

Representatives from government agencies, non-profit organisations and community partners dedicated to supporting Bermuda’s seniors will be on hand to share information with attendees.

Parking will be available at the Bermuda College as well as the Evangelical Church of Bermuda.

A minibus service is available to transport attendees from bus stops and the parking lot at the church.
