Pearson through to rowing final
Shelley Pearson has qualified for the C/D rowing final after finishing second in today's semi-final at the Lagao Rodrigo de Freitas at the Olympic Games.
Pearson finished the 2,000 metres women's singles sculls race in a time of 8min 5.78sec and will now look forward to today's final.
Her split times in the second semi-final heat were 1:59.95 after the opening 500, 4:02.12 after 1,000 and 6:04.18 after 1,500.
Sanita Purspure of Ireland won the race in 7:53.48, with Lucia Palermo of Argentina third in 8:15.42.
The semi-final was meant to be held on Wednesday but was postponed because of bad weather.
Lina Saltyte of Lithuania won today's opening semi-final in 7:55.57, with Anna Malvina Svennung of Sweden second in 8:00.41 and Kim Ye-ji third in 8:12.58.
