Nahki Wells will play for Bermuda in the upcoming matches against Guadeloupe and St Lucia.

Wells, who has been in fine form for Luton Town to start the season, is likely to lead the line for the two games in St Lucia as The Gombey Warriors begin their Concacaf Nations League campaign against Guadeloupe on Friday.

That match will be the first competitive match for Bermuda under new head coach John Barry Nusum, who has taken over the reins after the departure of Canadian Michael Findlay.

Nusum’s first squad features a number of changes, notably in goal with regular goalkeeper and captain Dale Eve not in the 24-man squad. That means Milai Perott, Jahquil Hill or Coleridge Fubler will be trusted with the task of keeping out the group’s top seeds in the opening game.

Hill is one of number of locally based players in the squad, with London Steede, Lejuan Simmons, Jorj Dublin., Sincere Hall, Diego Richardson, Enrique Russell, Zeiko Lewis, Elisha Darrell and Justin Donawa all plying their trade on island.

Wells’ experience is likely to prove vital for the more inexperienced members of the squad, with midfielder Blayz Borgesson and Caleb McDowall called up to the squad.

Bermuda were drawn in Group B League B with all matches played at centralised venues, a format change introduced in the last edition to reduce travel demand and support Member Associations in delivering the highest possible standards of competition.

After the first two matches in this window, Bermuda will travel to Barbados to play the home nation twice on October 2 and 5.

The four group winners will automatically advance to the Gold Cup, with the two best runners-up enetering the Gold Cup preliminary round.

Group winners will also be promoted to League A of the Nations League, while fourth-place finishers will be relegated to League C.
