PHC to take on X-Roads in Dudley Eve semi-final rematch
PHC Zebras will be out for revenge when they come up against X-Roads Warriors for the second time this season in the Dudley Eve Trophy semi-final.
Warriors handed their Premier Division rivals a heavy 6-2 defeat on the way to securing group C honours and clinching their spot in the last four in the competition, which honours the late father of former Zebras coach Alfie Eve.
Former Zebra Paul Simons and Danavon Thompson both scored hat-tricks in X-Roads’ resounding victory, with Joshua Joseph and Killian Elkinson replying for Cecoy Robinson’s team.
Zebras were forced to take the longest route to the semi-final as the best runner-up among the three groups after pipping North Village and Devonshire Cougars on goal difference for the final spot.
Group A winners Dandy Town and Group B winners Paget Lions will lock horns in the remaining semi-final.
Lions captain Diaje Hart is backing his team to deliver the goods but stressed their task will not be easy.
“Dandy Town are last year’s league champions so it won’t be easy, but we are going to do our best to get a result,” he told The Royal Gazette.
“I have a lot of confidence in my coaching staff and players to get the job done.
“The vibe at Paget is very positive. We are very hungry to do well no matter what team we play, but we are taking it game by game.”
Both semi-final matches will be held on October 21 at a venue yet to be confirmed.
A new Dudley Eve Trophy champion will be crowned this season after holders St George’s Colts were eliminated in the group stage.
