Jordan Vieira and PJ Rodrigues helped Eckerd College sailing team to finish fourth at the SAISA Open Top 9 over the weekend and secure a spot at the Atlantic Coast Championship qualifier.

With the regatta capped at 14 races, Eckerd finished fourth overall with 238 points.

Vieira and Guck totalled 135 points, finishing eleventh overall and seventh in the A Division. Rodrigues and Alvarado recorded 103 points, placing fifth overall while winning the B Division.

Jack Adderley was named as B Division skipper for Rollins University as The Tars finished ninth at the SAISA Open. Adderley, who was joined by crew Sam Frushone, saved their best result for the final race of the weekend, crossing the line eighth in race 14.

Football

Xahvi DeRoza and his University of New Hampshire side got the better of Bermudian compatriot Maxwell Mobray and Harvard University in their match last week.

DeRoza found the net in the 87th minute, sending a cross into the far corner and he was in action just a few days later in a 2-0 defeat to Portland, in which he produced two shots on target.

Austin Mobray played the full 90 minutes for the first time in his college career as Boston University defeated Navy 2-0 last week.

Jace Donawa came on a substitute for UNC Chapel Hill in the 78th minute but still had enough time to provide an assist in his team’s 2-0 win over American last Tuesday. Donawa was also in action just a few days later as UNC fell to a 2-1 defeat against No 21 Clemson, who held on for victory despite finishing with ten men.

La Zai Outerbridge tasted both sides of the football coin this week as Hobart & William Smith College beat Brockport 2-1 before losing their Liberty League opener 2-0 to St Lawrence University.

Ayden Gardner played 44 minutes for Nichols College in their 3-0 defeat by Endicott College, who featured Nile Bean in their ranks. Bean also played in Endicott’s 1-1 draw with Wheaton.

Tai Cariah was in action for Johnson University and was unlucky to be on the losing side in a 1-0 defeat to Tennessee Wesleyan. Cariah had one of Johnson’s 12 shots on goal but they were unable to find a way past an inspired visiting goalkeeper.

Andrew Armstrong featured for 26 minutes as Marshall University opened up Sun Belt Conference play with a 1-0 shutout of the Kentucky Wildcats.

Sachiel Ming played in both games as Syracuse University bounced back from defeat to Boston University with two wins in a week. Ming played 80 minutes in a 3-0 win over Colgate and 56 minutes in a 2-0 win over La Moyne.

Adio DeShield-Tankard starred as a host of Bermudians featured for Thomas College in two games this week. DeShield-Tankerd scored the third goal from the penalty spot in the 60th minute as Thomas thrashed VTSU Lyndon 6-0. Tre Burgess, Cody Robinson, T’syi Showers, Chance Eve and Justin Sukdeo also featured in the game.

Just a couple of days later the Bermudians took on national champions Tufts University, performing with credit despite a 5-0 defeat.

Enrique Mendes came on as a second-half substitute as Saint Peter’s University won their Metro Conference opener 2-1 over Niagara.

Isai Gibbons, Sami Carolo and Kydan Browne were involved for Saint Mary’s University as they beat Moncton 2-1 last Thursday before falling 2-0 to Acadia 48 hours later.

Enoch Joseph featured in Casper College’s 0-0 draw with Central Wyoming College on Saturday.

Shantia Berkeley played in Durham College’s 2-0 victory over Lakehead University Orillia.
