Acclaimed drama with comedic touch to screen at BUEI
A 2025 action-comedy that was hailed as one of the most celebrated films of the year will show at 6pm at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
Audiences can enjoy One Battle After Another in the BUEI’s Tradewinds Auditorium, which is wheelchair accessible.
Directed by acclaimed film-maker Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another emerged as a standout at the 98th Academy Awards, where it garnered six Oscars — including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
The film also won Best Supporting Actor (Sean Penn), Best Film Editing and the Academy’s newly introduced award for Best Casting, sealing its place as one of the year’s top cinematic achievements.
Adapted from Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, One Battle After Another follows Bob, a washed-up revolutionary living off the grid with his teenage daughter, Willa.
When a long-dormant enemy resurfaces and Willa goes missing, Bob is forced back into conflict, embarking on a tense and emotional journey that explores loyalty, legacy and the consequences of past choices.
Rated R, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti.
Critics have widely praised the bold storytelling, striking visuals and powerful performances across its runtime of 2 hours and 42 minutes.
Guests who avail of dinner beforehand will receive 15 per cent off the dining portion of their meal at Harbourfront prior to the film.
