The moments that feel like summer

K’ari Bean

Summer memories are rarely the big things. More often, they're the moments that seem ordinary at the time: a barbecue with friends, a favourite event, an afternoon spent in the sun or a simple family tradition.

Years later, those are often the memories that come rushing back when the days get longer and the island settles into its summer rhythm.

We asked a handful of people to share a summer moment that still stands out to them.

K’ari Bean: “One of my favourite memories of summer is just going to the beach with my friends, setting up a barbecue and just enjoying the sunset.”

Kaden Cameron

Kaden Cameron: “My favourite memory of summer would have to be the functions.”

Liz: “My favourite memory of summer is a little kiddie pool in my driveway with my two little boys swimming in it.”

Canaisa Wolfe: “My favourite memory of summer would be Carnival.”

Noa-Cymone Caisey

Noa-Cyone Caisey: “My favourite thing about summer is hanging out with my friends, getting to enjoy the beach, the water, the sun, the sand — everything.”

Jordan Carey

Jordan Carey: “My oldest memory is my mother taking me down the street in my neighbourhood to go see a big patch of sunflowers. Sunflowers always make me think of my first summer.”
