More than 300 properties were without power this afternoon after a utility pole fault.

A spokesman for power firm Belco said engineers had been sent to fix the problem in Southampton.

Belco said in a tweet: “We're aware of an outage currently affecting approx 340 customers … the outage is an isolated incident due to a fault on a utility pole.”

The firm added it aimed to “restore power to customers as soon as possible”.
