A free webinar about women’s wellness will help to mark breast cancer awareness this month.

The session will be hosted by the Women’s Resource Centre and feature Alaire Godfrey, the managing director at Ultimate Imaging Diagnostic Services.

Tina Laws, the WRC executive director, said that while people are dealing with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic “we want to remind women to take time for themselves and recognise that it is paramount to do routine self-breast exams and to keep on top of their annual mammography screenings”.

The online talk will run from 5.30pm on October 13.

A flyer said: “This webinar will serve as a reminder for women to make their breast health a priority and build positive health habits for life.”

Ms Laws said that WRC will also offer a session in support of domestic violence awareness this month.

A “raising angry sons” webinar will be run by Darius Richardson, who hosts the Change Ya Mind, Change Ya Life support group.

The session on October 18, which costs $25, will help parents and grandparents learn new ways to communicate with their sons.

It will cover topics such as where anger comes from and whether or not women can “really raise a boy to be a man”.

Ms Laws said that the webinar is also for youth leaders, educators and “young men trying to find themselves or [who] don’t have a strong father figure or father in their life”.

On Tuesday, October 5, a Developing Healthy Relationships session costing $25 is aimed at “women seeking to rid toxic behaviours and develop healthier concepts”.

Ms Laws explained: “This webinar is for women who are married, single, divorced and dating.

“It will help you to recalibrate the way in which you view, behave and react in a relationship.

“The reason women find themselves in toxic relationships – sometimes repeatedly – is because they do not address the woman who shows up.”
