Traffic lights around the west end of Hamilton’s Church Street will be upgraded next month.

A spokeswoman for the City of Hamilton said work would be carried out on Church Street at its junctions with Par-la-Ville Road, Bermudiana Road and Richmond Road.

But she added all the roads were expected to remain open as work is carried out.

The spokeswoman said: “Works will extend to the exit area of the Par-la-Ville car park. There are no anticipated full road closures.

Work will include the installation of new poles, lights and sensor systems at the three intersections.

Bike parking will be moved and new drop kerbs to assist disabled people will be installed.

The work is expected to be completed inside three months.
