Palmetto Road lane to be closed

Trenching

An ongoing dig by Belco will result in a stretch of Palmetto Road being closed along with part of a junction with Parson’s Road. The closure will last until September 2.

Trenching from 7am to 6pm, including Sundays, will be in effect from Old Military Road, across Parsons Lane, north-easterly to the westbound lane of Palmetto Road.

It will continue to the completed trench just east of the entrance to the Bus Depot.

Alternative routes via Frog Lane, Roberts Avenue or Middle Road are advised, a Public Works spokesman said.

Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy and the Government’s Prospect depot will remain accessible from Parsons Lane south off Orange Valley Road.

Traffic controls will be manned by Belco staff.

Questions for Belco should be directed to Jonathan Pedro, the company’s project manager, at 295-5111, extension 1441.

Tina Beer-Searle, the ministry’s acting principal highways engineer, can answer questions on detours at 501-3044.
