Pedestrian taken to hospital after being hit by truck

Collision

A pedestrian was rushed to hospital yesterday after he was hit by a truck on Pitts Bay Road.

A police spokeswoman said that shortly before 10am officers attended the scene of a collision near the junction with Mill Creek Road, Pembroke.

“It appears the male truck driver was negotiating a right hand turn onto Mills Creek Road,” she said. “At the time, a male pedestrian was attempting to cross the junction, when the accident occurred.

“The pedestrian was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of head and facial injuries. The driver of the truck was not reported to be injured.”

Traffic was being diverted from the area this morning so the scene could be processed by investigators.
