Police name victim of fatal crash as Jason Simmons

Police have named the victim of a fatal road crash in Sandys

Police have named a 38-year-old man who lost his life after a bike crash in Sandys on Tuesday night.

Jason Simmons was seriously injured after he struck the sidewalk on Somerset Road, near the junction of Mangrove Bay Road, close to the former Country Squire restaurant.

Mr Simmons was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said today: “A BPS family liaison officer continues to provide relevant support to his loved ones.”

Mr Simmons’s death marks the island’s second road fatality of 2023.

A 40-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, died after a five-vehicle collision on Sunday.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident on Tuesday is encouraged to call the roads policing unit on 247-1788, or the non-emergency number 211, or talk to an officer they know.
