Hamilton events in 2023 will have ‘wow factor’ says City

The Corporation of Hamilton has promised that this year’s schedule of street festivals and other public entertainments in the City will “pack in the wow factor”.

The calendar of events for 2023, unveiled yesterday features open-air film shows, a celebration of Spring, a culinary festival, and fairs.

Jessica Astwood, the corporation’s director of marketing and communications, said: “We are proud to be able to serve the Bermuda public and produce an event calendar that underscores the value of experiences, connections in our communities and positive social interactions.

“Off the heels of a very successful year of events in 2022, from the Christmas Boat Parade and the return of fireworks, to a citywide scavenger hunt, the team has been planning out an event programme that will include input from members of the public who complete our surveys on how our event offerings can be enhanced.

“These initiatives will include cultural experiences and engaging concepts that pack in the ‘wow’ factor.

“We hope that anyone that is made aware of this 2023 programme, takes the time to mark their calendars as we tailor-make these events for Bermuda.”

Each quarter, the City will present a Fresh Air Films movie night, free to the public and hosted in the City’s parks, car parks or streets.

The open-air movie nights will feature a double-header of current or themed films, and admission is free.

Spring Into The City kicks off at the beginning of May and will feature daily activities and giveaways on the City Hall front steps and lawn.

Summer will be celebrated in July with a fair at Victoria Park featuring live music and performances, pie eating contests, Kids Zones, face painting and games, a dunk tank, food vendors and a ton of additional surprises.

The Taste of Bermuda food festival will take place over three days in mid-October, while the festive season rounds out the calendar with the lighting of the iconic City Christmas tree on November 24 at City Hall.

A corporation spokeswoman added: “The public can also expect an array of additional events, staged in the City and put on by local organisers.

“Events such as Harbour Nights, parades, Beat The Retreat, Carnival, Race Weekend, bike races, marathons, street festivals and more will all add to a full complement of events throughout the year in the City of Hamilton.”
