More than 900 Belco customers in the East End lost power this afternoon, however electricity has since been restored.

According to Belco’s Outage Map, 944 homes in St George’s and St David’s had lost power, but within an hour that number had fallen to just nine homes in St George’s.

A Belco spokesman has since confirmed that power has been restored to all customers.

The spokesman said: “A contractor was cutting trees and a limb came into contact with wires which caused the circuit to trip.

“Power went out at 3.59pm and all power restored to customers by 4.54pm.”
