An investigation into a major fire that broke out at the St George’s boatyard in December is ongoing, the fire service confirmed yesterday.

Jamal Albouy, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service investigating officer for the incident, said: “I can’t comment on any elements of the investigation, only to say that it is ongoing.”

The blaze took place at the Boatport Boat Storage facility on Wellington Slip Road, St George’s, on December 14, destroying dozens of boats.

Firefighters attended the incident at about 3.30am and remained at the scene for many hours to bring the situation under control.

Police were on scene mainly to direct traffic.
