Bermuda in Caribbean regional tsunami exercise

The two areas highlighted for simulated earthquakes generating tsunamis in an annual regional disaster drill

The island successfully joined an international tsunami drill in tandem with the Caribbean.

Caribe Wave 2024 was carried out yesterday and wrapped up shortly after 3pm.

The exercise came with two scenarios of earthquakes triggering massive waves.

The first simulated a tsunami generated by a magnitude 8.7 earthquake located in the Puerto Rico Trench.

The second scenario simulates a tsunami caused by a magnitude 8.47 earthquake off Northern Panama.
