The grounds of the Botanical Gardens are being groomed for the 83rd edition of the Agricultural Exhibition next week, the Ministry of Public Works said today.

Teams from the Department of Parks are transforming the site for the Ag Show, which runs from April 18 to 20.

Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, the Minister of Public Works, said: “The hard work being poured into these preparations highlights a team effort and determination to make this year's exhibition a success, following the successful show that we witnessed last year."

He said: “The Ag Show is a testament to our community's commitment to preserving and celebrating our Bermudian heritage.”

Colonel Burch encouraged everyone, especially families, to visit the show.

He said: “It's more than an exhibition; it is a celebration of our local culture and an opportunity to support the vendors, farmers, entrepreneurs and artisans who will be participating.”

Bolstered by “eager young participants” from the Skills Development Programme and volunteers, the ministry said, the parks department team groomed sections of the gardens including the formal and the sensory gardens “to meet the public's expectations”.

It said: “These efforts ensure that the showcases of animals, plants and traditional displays will take centre stage for the enjoyment of all patrons.”

The ministry said visitors can expect excitement and attractions such as agricultural displays, animal shows, craft demonstrations and entertainment.

The three-day event will be open to the public from 8am to 6pm daily and visitors can buy admission tickets — at a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors — on location.

Food vendors will be on hand, offering a variety of cuisine and traditional Bermudian dishes.
