An all-women’s relay race going strong since 2012 has a new title sponsor in Mosaic Insurance.

The Bermudian-based global insurer has given its name to the You Go Girl Relay, a popular charity event that has raised more than $120,000 for the Women’s Resource Centre

Organised by Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club, the women runners’ event, known for participants’ costumed turnout, goes ahead on Front Street on June 2, with registration now open.

Mosaic joins supporting sponsors U by Kotex, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Butterfield & Vallis.

Lisa Fontanetta, Mosaic’s chief of staff, said the firm was “delighted to be part of this wonderful event and help it continue to thrive and grow”.

She added: “Mosaic supports communities around the world where we live and work, particularly projects where we can have a direct, positive impact.

“This relay not only raises critical funds, but also creates fantastic community spirit, reflecting Mosaic’s corporate values — be bold, work together, and have fun.”

This year’s relay will pay homage to the pop superstar Taylor Swift and her Eras concert tour, with runners invited to show off their best “Swiftie” style — as well as using the singer’s lucky number, 13.

Christine De Silva, of the MAAC race organising committee, said the club was “privileged” to welcome Mosaic and looked forward to the partnership.

“It’s lucky 13 for us in 2024, and this beloved event promises to be bigger and better than ever with the support of participants and spectators.”

The relay invites teams of three women or girls to participate in its 2K, 4K and 6K three-lap structure.

Prize categories include open, family, corporate, masters, junior, walking, and non-competitive teams.

All three team members can also choose to run the 6K together.

New this year are younger girls’ races, including ages 4 to 7 years.

Juanae Crockwell, the executive director of the Women’s Resource Centre, said the charity was grateful to once again become the beneficiary of the Mosaic You Go Girl Relay.

She said: “The funds raised from this event will help to keep our doors open, so women in Bermuda will continue to find a safe place at WRC for counselling, support groups, therapeutic programmes and community education.

“The race is an annual fixture on our calendar, and we are looking forward to the camaraderie and sense of community it will bring.

“We encourage women to sign up for this fun and fabulous event, which supports the essential work we do in our community.”
