Habitat for Humanity Bermuda will be hosting a fundraising gala with a casino theme next month.

Vegas in Venice, a Venetian masquerade ball, will be held on Saturday, May 18, at Pier 6.

The charity, which provides accommodation for families in need, held a similar event last year.

Sandra Christensen, chairwoman of fundraising and development for the charity, said: “One of the important factors in the success of these events is the sponsors

“Last year Habitat was privileged to have Talcott Re as the key sponsor, and are thrilled that Talcott Re have again opted to be the key sponsor for the upcoming gala fundraiser.”

Sheelagh Cooper, chairwoman of Habitat’s board, added: “They have been wonderful partners this past year, contributing not only money to our charity, but also rolling up their sleeves and volunteering to work up at the Rectory project.

“They have been a dream to work with and we look forward to fostering and growing this wonderful relationship.”

Karen Gonsalves, head of reinsurance operations at Talcott Re, said the company was “delighted“ to continue its support.

She said: “Our company and employees believe strongly in the strength of the communities where we live and work and we are dedicated to growing our relationship with Habitat in support of its efforts.”
