A call has gone out for volunteers to help before and during the Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby on May 22.

A statement said the annual event “is more than a race, it is one of the island’s most enduring traditions and it run because of the people who show up to make it happen”.

The derby committee is especially looking for race marshals to guide participants and support pedestrian safety and traffic control during the event, which starts from Somerset this year.

Roger Lee, race director, said: “Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or have never done it before, this is one of the most rewarding ways to spend a Friday morning, even on a holiday, and you will walk away knowing you helped pull off one of Bermuda's most iconic sporting events.”

Individuals, groups, community organisations and corporate teams can visit bermudamarathon.bm/volunteers to register as a volunteer. Spaces are limited.
