Somerset fans and St George’s supporters are being asked to show their teams some love while aiding a charity dedicated to helping families across Bermuda.

Family Centre will again partner with longstanding sponsor Clarien Bank for an annual Cup Match Tag Day, set to take place on July 29 with Cup Match ribbons already available across the island in both teams’ colours for $3.

A spokeswoman for the charity said that Clarien has sponsored the annual fundraiser since 2001, acting as a dedicated partner in its mission to strengthen families and promote the wellbeing of children and teenagers.

Sandy De Silva, the executive director of Family Centre, said that Cup Match is a time that unites Bermudians, and the tag day fundraiser turns that community spirit into meaningful support for Bermuda families.

She added: “Every ribbon purchased, every donation and every volunteer who signs up for tag day helps Family Centre continue to provide counselling and youth programmes at no cost to children, teens and families who need support.

“We are deeply grateful to Clarien Bank for 25 years of partnership on this event and to everyone who helps support Family Centre’s mission.”

As part of the tag day festivities, an event will be held at Point House on July 29 hosted by MC PowerGirl and featuring H&H Gombeys, DJ Korie Minors and Ashley’s Lemonade.

The spokeswoman said: “Family Centre’s Cup Match Tag Day is one of the charity’s most important annual fundraisers and is dedicated in memory of Family Centre’s founder and former executive director, the late Martha Dismont.

“Tag Day was one of Martha’s favourite events.

“She loved seeing Somerset and St George’s ribbons worn across the island as a visible sign of community spirit, friendly rivalry and shared care for Bermuda’s children and families.”

Ian Truran, the chief executive of Clarien Bank, said the organisation was honoured to be able to support Family Centre’s work in the community.

He added: “We are especially excited to host another festive and fun tag day, where Somerset and St George’s fans alike can show their team spirit while supporting a vital service that strengthens the wellbeing of Bermuda’s children, teens and families.”

Members of the public can support by purchasing ribbons, donating in person or online, placing a corporate ribbon order, volunteering at a tagging station, hosting a denim day or workplace fundraiser or making a donation in honour of Martha Dismont’s legacy.

Family Centre will also have a Cup Match table at Harbour Nights on July 29.
