The Government is looking to purchase new fire trucks as part of a multiyear fleet-renewal programme.

A recent request for proposal sought qualified suppliers for Class B fire pumpers to be delivered to the island in the 2027-28 financial year to bolster Bermuda’s firefighting and rescue capability.

The RFP, published on the government procurement website, included a provision for the purchase of additional units with the same specifications — subject to “annual budget approval and evolving operational requirements”.

The successful supplier would be required to design, build and deliver up to six of the vehicles, along with offering technical assistance, maintenance training and spare parts.

The notice added: “These fire pumpers will form a vital component of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service frontline fleet and must be engineered for reliable performance within Bermuda’s subtropical maritime climate, characterised by high humidity, salt exposure and constrained roadway geometry.

“Proposals should demonstrate alignment with recognised international fire service vehicle engineering and safety benchmarks and present a clear technical approach, delivery timeline and value-for-money proposition.”

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on August 18.
