Residents in Pembroke, St George’s and Hamilton are experiencing power outages related to today’s stormy weather.

Belco said there are a small amount of outages in other parishes, which can be seen on its outage map.

There are 499 customers affected overall including 305 in Pembroke, 126 in St George’s, 40 in Hamilton Parish and 25 in Warwick.

The Bermuda Weather Service has issued a thunderstorm advisory which will be in effect until tonight. There is also a small craft warning in effect until this evening.

The utility said on its social media channels: “We are aware of customers experiencing an outage due to weather in Pembroke and St George’s along with small pockets scattered in other parishes.

“Our crews are aware and are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible as the weather allows.

“Please exercise extreme caution when driving, walking or riding near our working crews. The safety of you, our crew, the public and all road users is paramount.

“If you are affected by this outage, please unplug all sensitive equipment and electronics.

“We thank you for your patience as we work to restore your power.”

The BWS report said weather conditions were becoming more unsettled.

It said: “Conditions gradually deteriorate throughout the remainder of this Labour Day weekend as a front moves in from the north and stalls nearby, causing spotty showers to merge into longer spells of rain.

“The front finally pushes far enough south some time on Tuesday to allow drier, brighter and less humid weather to develop by midweek.”

It said there would be thickening cloud with showers, thunder at times today, with winds west-southwesterly moderate to strong, with stronger gusts in showers, veering west-northwesterly at times, easing moderate by this evening.

It added that tonight would be cloudy and occasionally wet with thunder likely.

Monday is expected to be cloudy and wet with some heavier bursts, thunder likely.
