Special needs caregivers invited to networking event

Caregivers for those with disabilities have been offered to join a support group focused on building community.

The Carter Centre Charity invited families, service providers and community groups to build a network through the Finding Your Village — Caregiver Connect event.

Je-Duntee Hurdle, the president of the Carter Centre, said: “Behind every individual living with a disability is often a parent, family member or caregiver working tirelessly to provide love, care and support.

“Many of these caregivers face challenges that go unseen, including emotional exhaustion, limited respite options and difficulty accessing essential resources.

“Finding Your Village was created to help bridge those gaps.”

The charity hoped to show the challenges that caregivers face, the need for caregiver relief and the importance of community assistance.

It will cover topics such as the signs of caregiver burnout, charity support services and respite care for families.

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, and her permanent secretary, will be in attendance.

The event will take place tomorrow from 4pm to 7pm at the K Margaret Carter Centre on Old Military Road, Devonshire.

Those who wish to attend can register through an online forum.
