Police honour team members for hard work and dedication
A finance manager and police inspector are among those recognised for their contributions to the Bermuda Police Service.
Wanda Bluefort and Inspector Anthony Smith were named the recipients of the 2026 Police Week Impact Awards, which honour those whose dedication, leadership and commitment have made a positive impact on the service and the community.
Na'imah Astwood, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, said Mrs Bluefort, a finance manager, was recognised for exceptional financial stewardship, resourcefulness and support for police staff over the past 19 years.
She said: “Her contributions behind the scenes have been instrumental in keeping the service operating effectively.”
Meanwhile, she said Mr Smith was praised for his outstanding leadership, operational expertise and hands-on approach to policing.
She said: “Whether supporting his team or volunteering his time for community initiatives, he consistently leads by example.”
Ms Astwood said three others received honourable mentions including Julie Trott, who was celebrated for her contributions to major BPS projects, Acting Inspector Dominique Simons, who was praised for his leadership and mentorship work, and reserve officer Massimo Bernasconi, who earned kudos for his dedication and enthusiasm.
She added: “Their achievements remind us that making a difference isn’t always about being in the spotlight.
“Sometimes, it’s the quiet dedication, everyday acts of service and willingness to go the extra mile that leave the greatest impact.”
