Partnership to highlight Bermuda’s non-profits

A charity that champions Bermuda’s non-profit sector is to launch the second phase of its Third Sector Spotlight series, continuing to bring the stories, challenges and impacts of organisations to the community.

Beginning on November 5, Third Sector Thursdays will feature a different non-profit organisation every other week on The Daily Hour in a dedicated conversation about the needs it addresses, its work and the difference it is making.

The series will build on the success of Third Sector Spotlight, launched last year with support from The Royal Gazette to help strengthen how non-profits communicate their impact and increase public understanding of the sector’s contribution to the Island.

“Bermuda’s non-profits are responding every day to some of our community’s most important needs, but we know that communicating the depth and value of that work can be challenging,” said Nicola Paugh, the executive director of the Non-profit Alliance of Bermuda.

“Third Sector Spotlight was created to help change that.

“Phase 1 helped organisations strengthen how they tell their stories; phase 2 gives them another platform to put those skills into practice and bring those stories directly to the wider community.”

Jamel Hardtman, a host on The Daily Hour, which can be viewed online or via Hot 107.5, added: “Third Sector Thursdays gives non-profits an opportunity not only to share what they do, but to engage directly with our audience, answer their questions and help the community better understand their impact.”

Dr Paugh said: “Too often, the public sees an individual programme, event or fundraising appeal without getting the opportunity to understand the bigger picture — what problem an organisation is working to solve, what its approach is and what is changing as a result.”

“We want Third Sector Thursdays to help make that connection while giving Bermuda a greater appreciation for the scale and diversity of work happening across the non-profit sector.”
