Charity to host free healthy brunch for mothers
A charity dedicated to building a community where everyone’s needs are secured is to host a free brunch event for mothers and young children.
Bermuda Is Love will offer its Healthy Mothers Brunch on November 14, from 9am to midday, for expectant mothers and those with young children, in collaboration with the Women’s Resource Centre, It Takes a Village, Family Centre and the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity.
The event is an opportunity to bring mothers, families, community organisations and health professionals together to share knowledge, strengthen support networks and recognise the importance of maternal and child health.
Aaron Crichlow, a founder of Bermuda Is Love, said: “The event will provide expectant mothers and mothers with young children with a free, healthy brunch, nutritional and parenting information, access to diapers, counselling services, a panel discussion and an opportunity to connect with other mothers and build a supportive community.
“Childcare and activities for children will also be provided.”
The brunch will also feature a panel discussion with representatives from charities and professionals working in maternal and child health, including doulas, dietitians and paediatricians.
Talks will explore important aspects of women’s health, pregnancy, childbirth, nutrition and parenting, while providing mothers with an opportunity to hear from professionals, ask questions and access valuable information.
Amira Gift, a Bermuda Is Love intern, added: “Motherhood should not have to be navigated alone and no mother should have to struggle to access the resources, information and support she needs to care for herself and her children.
“All expectant mothers and mothers with young children are welcome, regardless of their background, circumstances or income.”
