MSA to mark Remembrance Day through special service
Andrew Murdoch, the Governor, will offer his reflections during a Remembrance Day service at Mount Saint Agnes Academy on Monday.
A statement from the school said Mr Murdoch will join Lieutenant-Colonel Duncan Simons, Commanding Officer of the Royal Bermuda Regiment, and Noah Amaradasa, president of the school’s student council, during the ceremony set to begin at 8.45am.
Mia Chambray, Hamilton councillor and former MSA student, will discuss Bermuda’s military service and the personal connections may families have to Remembrance Day during the service in the school’s auditorium, which will also feature a prayer from the Most Reverend Wieslaw Spiewak, the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton.
Student Aidan Glazebrook will read a passage of scripture from the Book of Micah, while students Seamus Stones, Julia Stoppa and Lukas Booth will read John McRae’s famous poem In Flanders Fields.
Anna Faria-Machado, MSA principal, said: “Remembrance Day offers an important opportunity for our students to reflect on the sacrifices made by previous generations and to consider their own responsibility to build a more peaceful and compassionate world.
“We are honoured to welcome distinguished guests and members of our community as we gather in remembrance.”
