Duo set for beach volleyball challenge in El Salvador
Defender Natalie Gazzard and blocker Megan Hands have been chosen to represent Bermuda this weekend at the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation Under-23 Beach Continental Tour stop in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Gazzard and Hands have a chance to build on a strong season together that included representing Bermuda at the Central American and Caribbean Beach Games in Dominican Republic.
The pair finished twelfth at that event, marking Bermuda’s highest finish in beach volleyball at the CAC Games. Competing together at the Norceca Beach Tour stop in Honduras before competing at the Games further provided the players with a lot of experience against continental opposition.
According to the Bermuda Volleyball Association, Gazzard and Hands have been training at their respective universities in Canada and will meet up to travel to the tournament, which runs from today to Sunday.
“Returning to the sand as a team, they will look to build on the experience and teamwork developed throughout their 2026 international campaign,” the BVA said.
“The Norceca Under-23 Beach Volleyball Tour provides an important opportunity for emerging athletes to gain international experience and further develop their beach volleyball skills.
“For Gazzard and Hands, the tournament offers an opportunity to represent Bermuda while balancing their university studies and training commitments.”
