Negotiations ongoing over next Grand Slam, Minister

Keegan Bradley tees off at the Port Royal Golf Club at this year's PGA Grand Slam of Golf. Negotiations over further events are ongoing.

Local golf fans will have to wait a little longer before the venue for the 2013 PGA Grand Slam of Golf is announced.Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said negotiations between his ministry and the US PGA regarding a potential new contract to stage the event remain ongoing. It had been anticipated that next year's host would be announced at the 2012 PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Port Royal this week. However, Minister Furbert said today that is highly unlikely to happen."We are still in negotiations with the PGA and both parties will decide later on what direction we are going."When asked how long could it take before the PGA announce the venue for the 2013 Grand Slam, Minister Furbert replied: "They (PGA) have a new change in command coming in November so we'll see whether they make a decision before or after then."Obviously we would like to keep the Grand Slam."Bermuda's current two-year contract to host the event has expired.
