Dillas wins Public Links Championship

Breezy and cool conditions made for a tough day at Port Royal yesterday as Jarryd Dillas added another piece of silverware to his trophy cabinet by claiming the Men’s Open Division in the 36-hole Public Links Championships.

Dillas adjusted his game to suit the conditions and added a respectable 79 to his 68 on Saturday at Ocean View for a two-day gross score of 147, six over par. Bill Pitt, no stranger to the Port Royal course, took second place honours after rounds of 76 and 85 (161) while Leroy Robinson finishing third with a two-day total of 162.

Ebonie Burgess took women’s gross honours when she added to her six-under-par 66 at Ocean View with an 80 yesterday for a three over par two-day total 146 to finish 17 strokes ahead of Katrin Burnie in second place. Rounding out the top three was Ann Symonds, the current Women’s Match Play champion, on 172.

Craig (Hollywood) Christensen capped off a fine performance to take home another major title this year, winning the Seniors Division by six strokes ahead of Jeffrey Lindo. Christensen won the seniors title at the Bacardi Par 3 and is now the Seniors Public Links Champion for 2013 with a two-day total of 148, seven over par. Lindo finished on 13 over par 154 and Michael Tavares third on 172 overall.

The Men’s Net Division saw Jerome Bradshaw seal the deal and take top honours with a fine performance of one under par 140. Walter Jackson was second on 146 and Mark Jarecki third on 148.

The Women’s Net Division saw the closest finish as both Katyna Rabain and last year’s winner Donna Jones both finished with a two round score of 148, with Rabain taking the title. Two strokes back in third was Wendy Salvia.

Richard Jones is the Seniors Net Champion after his overall two under par 139 was enough to beat out Winston (Coe) Trott on 148 and Steven Hickmott on 150.
